We all know that oceans are essential for us to live on earth. Today, we will discuss the importance of oceans. We will discuss some reasons for the importance of oceans. Seas are known as the heart of the planet. Water covers the two-thirds area of the earth’s surface. Following are the reasons:
The Ocean Produces Oxygen
Phytoplankton- very tiny organisms like plants live in the sea. These small organisms are responsible for more than 50% of the oxygen on earth. Earthy plants contain chlorophyll, which captures the sunlight and carries on the photosynthesis process by which we get oxygen to breathe.
Photosynthesis is a process that plants perform; plants capture the sunlight and convert them into chemical energy. It is a profound concept, and during the process of photosynthesis, plants leave oxygen, which humans take for their livelihood.
Ocean Regulates Earth’s Climate
The heat that the sun gives is absorbed by the oceans, which protects the earth’s surface from heavy heating. As the sea absorbed the heat, this warm water goes from the equator to the poles and coverts it into cold water. Then this cold water transports from bars to the tropics. Without this process, the weather might be so hot in some regions. Sea regulates our climate in this way.
The ocean as an Important Source of Food
Seafood contains a tremendous amount of protein and nutrients a human body requires. As we know, Fish is essential on the menu for millions of people. Fish includes 15.7% of the protein consumed by the animals globally. Not only fish, but there are also many other species like the Philippines, dulse, sea grapes, etc., which are on the menu for people and contain required nutrients a human body needs. Estimating the world’s population increasing by 1.5 million a week, we become dependent on oceans for survival.
Ocean Creates Job Opportunities
Ocean-based industries will create job opportunities for more than 40 million people in this world until 2030. it will improve the situation of millions of unemployed people. Oceans regulate droughts and rainfall as it holds 95% of the water on our planet and absorbs CO2, which helps keep the carbon cycle in balance.
As we read, it provides food that also generates job opportunities for millions of people and will create those people’s livelihoods.
Many Creatures depends on Oceans
The ocean is a chilling place for us; it is the home for many creatures such as dolphins, turtles, octopus, and many more. These are the innocent creatures for whom the ocean is their everything. They live, eat-in oceans.
Above, we read the importance of oceans, which are not that clean now. Sea is home to many beautiful creations of God. For many unemployed people in this world, ocean-based industries are planning jobs for nearly 40 million people. Besides, organisms living in oceans are essential for those dependent on seafood for their livelihood. These sea organisms contain a considerable amount of proteins and nutrients an average human body requires, and for some, seafood is the only way to live.
